In the late 1970s, in a quiet courtyard behind Copenhagen's old opera house, upholsterer Søren Kaye began exploring how the rhythm of performance could translate into furniture. Working in an abandoned rehearsal space, he studied how light softened curved walls and how draped fabrics created natural, effortless forms.
His aim was to design a sofa that felt like the moment just after a note fades — a calm suspension shaped by breath and stillness. The first Kaye prototype featured low, rounded modules and a soft, continuous silhouette, capturing the quiet geometry of the space that inspired it. During a private showing for dancers and stagehands, the piece became known as "the silent stage."
When Rove Concepts rediscovered a surviving photograph decades later, the design was reconstructed with contemporary precision. Today's Kaye modular sofa carries Søren's devotion to quiet, inviting proportion — a composition built from pauses, openness, and the understated elegance of Scandinavian restraint.

I bought this sofa in the Mist Grey color and I really loved it. I wanted to buy another section/piece, but unfortunately it’s no longer available. The quality is great, and I purchased the large size. The only difficult part was installing the legs, but overall it was pretty easy. It also feels very durable and well made. Very happy with this purchase!
More than perfect!
We placed an initial order for the Kaye Sectional L and realized we would love an additional ottoman to add to it. The Kaye Ottoman is beautiful, matched the rest of the sofa and completed our living room design. I will be ordering form Rove again!
The sofa looks really good and was easy to set up
The Kaye family of sectional pieces seem so far to be well designed and constructed solidly. Once connected **correctly** the pieces are very stable. The fabric covers, which was one of the big features we wanted since they are removeable and washable, were mostly attached when the items arrived, but a couple pieces needed removal and adjustment of the covers since they had come partially off during installation/transit. However, the instructions are not super helpful. We paid for basic delivery, but then upgraded for an extra $250 at the time of delivery for installation and setup. Unfortunately even the delivery folks couldn't figure out the installation and left with it not correctly set up (it looked correct at first glance, but when the corner pieces started shifting and coming apart within hours, we started to look for the problem ourselves). Turns out several backrests were installed backward (there is a front and back side but it's not obvious) and a couple of the ottomans were also twisted and needed to be removed and aligned and reinstalled. Lastly, the connections were not done and it took us nearly 8 hours to figure out how to connect the corner piece in a stable way. It took 2 of us and we both had minor injuries by the time we finished, so there's something to be said about possible improvements to either the configuration directions, installer training, or other things that could certainly be improved. We purchased an additional section, which should arrive in the coming month or so, but we will NOT be paying for any extra white (or other colored) glove service, since it was a total waste.
